All military commissaries worldwide will continue normal operations during any potential lapse in appropriations.

If a lapse were to occur, DeCA is authorized to operate commissaries using Defense Working Capital Funds (DWCF). During this time, commissary employees would continue working and would not be subject to furlough.

DeCA’s operating status may adjust depending on the length of a funding lapse. Any updates will be shared promptly on this website and through DeCA’s official social media channels, including Facebook and X.

If working capital funds were ever fully utilized, commissary operations would continue at overseas locations and at select stateside stores designated as remote or austere—where access to affordable food is essential and alternative grocery options are limited. These locations include:

OCONUS locations will remain open. Click here to find an overseas location closest to you.

Please note that store designations and operations may change as funding priorities evolve. DeCA will continue to post the latest information possible here, on the store location pages, and on social media before the shutdown action prevents the agency from updating its Web platforms.

Service members and their families are also encouraged to stay informed through local installation communications and news outlets.
